    Re: Help with upgrade, please

    Howdy,

Fellow SW Oregonian here. Hilltop is the best music store in the region that I have found since Cripple Creek closed. I have tried some mando's there, good varied selection for the area....

  4. Re: Play with backup tracks, sing with mp3s. Looking for new sour

The Rhythm Future Quartet has some gypsy swing backing tracks that I discovered a couple weeks ago. Fun stuff. Features occasional Cafe contributor Jason Anick.

    Re: Phish - Waste

I never tabbed it out. I figured out the basic chords on guitar years ago and just play them on the mandolin. To me, the mandolin register fills in the the higher intro licks and sounds pretty good....

    Re: Phish - Waste

    Good stuff.

Big Phan here too. Sample in a Jar is fun on mandolin. The intro is easy and sounds great on mando. We do that and Sparkle at some live gigs.

Billy Strings new album - Home

Surprised I didn't see any mention of this yet considering his past work with Don Julin.

Great new album from Billy Strings came out last Friday. I've listened to it a couple times and enjoy it...

    Re: Tascam Portastudio DP-24SD / DP-32SD

I just picked up a used DP24. Hoping to start recording some tracks in the coming weeks.

I have had a few smaller 4 track machines so I am not totally green. This unit seems to have the specs for...

Re: Weldon Lister Tailpiece on Collings

Very nice. The details are exquisite. As are many of his pieces.

I have an engraved pocket knife by his father (also my great-uncle) Bill Lister. Big Bill Lister was a very tall man known as the...

    Re: Carters and Gruhns...visit yesterday

Robert, I agree, bad business practice. Both instances seemed to be random employees. My wife mentioned that an owner would be much friendlier.

This might have been part of the issue. I am...

    Re: Carters and Gruhns...visit yesterday

Need to make a trip to Nashville to check out the music shops.

Living in a small town our music shop options are limited and I often look forward to trips to the city to visit larger one. I am in...

Thanks for everything Ted. MandolinCafe and JazzMando are the two heavyweights of online mandolin discussion for me.

Re: Join the Oregon Mandolin Orchestra

How often do you rehearse? I couldn't find anything on the website. I am in Roseburg and might be interested depending on scheduling. I could be the new PNW Communte Champion.

Re: Strange tones only I can hear

You may be slightly bending the strings when they are fretted. This would cause each string to have a slightly different pitch. This happens to me if I take some time off from playing and my...

  23. Re: Please give me pick-up advice for my KM-550

I have a K&K Twin on my Kentucky 250 that works great for when I have to plug in. It was installed by a local luthier. I use a preamp as well which improves the sound and allows more control. It has...
