Re: John Paul Jones on American tv

He mostly played bass on that Mutual Admiration Society tour, but did play mandolin for an instrumental duet of "Going to California" with Sean Watkins. Nice recording here:...
  2. Re: Don Stiernberg Quartet cited as a best jazz recording of 2020

Donnie looks like he's getting ready to take a swing like fellow Cubs fan Chris Thile.

Re: John Paul Jones on American tv

Yes, I still can vividly recall seeing him there in the back during the first morning class in the lecture hall and thinking to myself "that's John Paul Jones!". At the end I said hi to him on my way...

Re: Who makes 2 point models

In that range, Howard (Sonny) Morris in Oregon is your best (only?) bet. Most manufacturers (as opposed to luthiers) don't make 2-pointers. And most luthier models would be significantly more...

Re: What Happened to Brian's Huge Chord List?

It appears Brian prefers the root to always be the lowest note.
  11. Re: Gender and age distribution of mando players

    D'oh, that's exactly what I read wrong.
  12. Re: Gender and age distribution of mando players

I'm confused by this number, or is it unrelated to the pasted graphic breakdown? According to that table, 77.21% are 45 or older. 14.71+19.37+21.23+21.90 = 77.21.

    Re: Ritchie Blackmore's octave

Yeah, that one looks different than the first video, different soundhole, different bridge. But if you're focusing on the (IMO ugly) art, that's a different question.

Fylde I believe, I've come across references of him playing Fylde instruments.

    Re: Informal Poll

I think "headstock envy" likely refers to the name of the maker. Not to be confused with "scroll envy."

Me, $5K is probably about the most I would ever pay.
