    Re: Should I bother?..

Well, I'm only 68 but lets hear what 97 year old Dick Van Dyke has to say.

"Genes, I guess, for one thing. Having a beautiful young wife half my age to take care of me — that works! My positive...

  6. Re: Northfield mandolins - USA or China made?

I can understand valuing an instrument made by craftsman (individual luthiers) over one made by a large factory subcontractor or even a company owned factory - as most Chinese instruments are,. ...
  7. Re: Northfield mandolins - USA or China made?

Not that it matters. I love my Gen 4. But in contrast to what is stated on their website, the label on mine clearly states "Made in our Marshall, MI USA shop."

    Humidity

Wondering how important maintaining stable humidity is. I'm in the northeast, have an ultrasonic humidifier in a smallish room where I keep my instruments. If I keep the door shut, humidifier...

    Going backwards

Beginner question. I've been learning to play mandolin for about 2 years. No prior musical background. So, very much just a beginner. Still, I was starting to think I was getting the hang of it,...

IMHO, its hard work and the right environment. In addition, from an evolutionary biology perspective its plausible that some forms of knowledge persist and are passed on. Given neuro-plasticity...

First repair - all advice welcome

Just bought (Ebay) what appears to be an older Japanese-made Kentucky 650 in fairly rough shape. Serial # 15357. Hasn't arrived yet.
