    Re: Wintergrass in WA

There is no lack of jamming at Wintergrass. There are dozens of smaller jams and many larger ones happening 24 hours a day for the most part. They take place all over the lobby and halls of the...

    Re: Poindexter Duffy Duck Copy

No idea where the mandolin resides these days, but dang it if this didn't lead me down the rabbit hole of John Duffey era Seldom Scene videos...

    Re: NMD: Morris F5 #482

Congrats! I pondered that one when he posted it. Sonny builds a great mandolin. I miss my Morris A5...

Re: Northfield Model A or Silverangel Econo A?

I would go for the Silverangel myself. Northfield doesn't do it for me. That said, many folks are Northfield fans and the reviews are largely favorable. Go with what feels right for you.

    Re: Favorite Mandolin Player

Currently for me it is Jarrod Walker with Billy Strings. Not to say he is the most technically advanced mando wizard out there, but my favorite to listen to right now...

    Re: Ruhland Resale

I remember this mandolin. It was lost in the mail for quite some time after leaving Matt's bench headed to Greg Boyd's. Not sure if that has anything to do with the issues it has had, though some of...

    Re: Looking for new instrument

I have owned a Morris and often regret selling it. Howard packs a lot of value into his mandolins! I am also in Oregon and had seen those mandolins on CL. I would opt for the Morris given my own...

Re: Where did you find your last mando?

Played a couple Ruhlands and decided I needed one so I gave him a call and had him build me one. It worked out as the mandolin has met and then exceeded my expectations. It was important to me to...

    Re: Eastman Vs. Morris

That is a question best asked of the seller, but I would guess the used Morris is probably well set up. I do know that Sonny sets them up very nicely in his shop.
    If still pondering an Eastman,...

    Re: Eastman Vs. Morris

I haven't heard of any long-term structural/durability issues that are common with either maker. I had my Morris for 3 years without a single problem. I have stayed in contact with the buyer who has...

    Re: Eastman Vs. Morris

This is an easy one for me. I would take a Morris over an Eastman without batting an eye. I have owned both. This isn't to say there is anything wrong with an Eastman, but for me it is about the...

Matt definitely builds a fine mandolin. I am the fortunate owner of #41 and it is an absolute cannon.

Re: How Has Collings' MT-2 Line Changed Over Time

Beat me to it. McKenzie River Music are a Collings dealer and were good about test drives when they had them in stock. Great store indeed. Their in-house repair guy Charlie is pretty good too though...

    Re: your mandolin ownership history

My journey has been brief as my first mandolin was an unsolicited Xmas gift 3 years ago. Fortunately, I think that I was able to settle on a MAS killer pretty quickly.
    That gift was a Washburn...
  24. Re: Hello! New here with question about best bang for my budget

For a $1000, I do not believe there is much better than a Howard Morris A5 (or A4 if you prefer an oval hole).

    Re: Builder or Company

My preferred route has been through the independent builders. I started with Howard Morris and then Matt Ruhland. Both provided excellent experiences and mandolins and I was able to support builders...
