I had a free subscription to Sirius radio for my 2016 Civic EX-T. It was ok. I prefer Apple Music. I can download whatever I want and they send me sample playlists three times a week to pique my...

Re: What instrument is the hardest? My experience

I’ve got a MOOG Theremin that’s pretty tricky to play. Just waving in thin air with no reference points. Left hand for volume and articulation and right hand for pitch.

Re: Hilary Hahn: Hearing her live

Our NPR station plays Mendelssohn violin concerto every time I turn to that station it seems. Glad I got to see Hilary Hahn twice last month, solo with piano and an all Bach program with orchestra.

    Hilary Hahn: Hearing her live

I heard Hilary Hahn last week in a small church in Skaneateles, NY. She started off the program playing JS Bach’s Partita no.3 for solo violin. About a minute into her performance, I realized that I...
  7. Bruno and Sons bowl back restringing question

A friend just gave me a Bruno and Sons bowl back mandolin with a number 5 on the back of the head between the tuning pegs. Strings are old and rusty, but hold a pitch reasonably well. Action is...
  8. Re: Jacobson Nautilus Mandolin #39 - Ziricote and Birdseye

Marty, I am fortunate to play your #37 Koi themed mandolin every day. With Thomastik strings it is a great instrument to work on the Bach Violin Sonatas and Cello Suites.

Re: Builders who are good pickers.

I wish Marty would update his website. I love his #37 that he made for me about 4 years ago. Whenever I get a craving for a ‘better’ mandolin, I take it to Bernunzio’s in Rochester, NY and test it...

Re: Taking your Mandolin for a walk...

What a great idea! I walk 5 miles a day. When I was teaching public school, one of our duties was supervising lunch duty for one period a day. I would bring my mandolin and practice scales,tunes,...
  17. Re: Vega little wonder tenor banjo question NMC

Just bought one here in New York. 1930’s era Little Wonder tenor with resonator for $400.00 on Craigslist. Nice instrument, it has additional fretboard inlays that I am unsure about.

  21. Re: Don Kawalek Mandolin Building Workshop, March 25-30, 2018
