Now there's an idea... two mandolin players!
Anybody know who these two gentleman are?
Here is the Old Homestead LP of radio broadcasts of Charlie Monroe and The Kentucky Pardners from 1944 featuring Lester Flatt on Mandolin and Vocals... It's good stuff!...
Perhaps I have missed a thread on this topic in the past,I am not sure?
I wanted to see if there were any fans of Charlie Monroe on the cafe?
I have been listening to his entire recorded catalog...
The power of the pre teen and teenage girl in the commercial market place should never be underestimated ... glad she writes her own songs, that alone is a skill worthy of the term "role model"!!!

I believe this is the correct method to post video
Finally The McCoury's are back to doing what they do best .... playing Bill Monroe style Bluegrass which is equal parts imitation and innovation.
All the excursions into Pop and Rock cover territory...
Indeed!
Collings; Loud, stays in tune, decent tone .... good resale value... buy it and enjoy!!
The ultimate changes in the design of the fiddle(violin) and the banjo were part of the process of making both instruments easier for use in classical music not country music.
I think the concept of...
It is too bad that anyone wanting to engage in a legitimate discussion about Old Time music,it's players and the instruments that are best suited to execute the style, must suffer though indulgent...
The Gibson F5 was created and introduced into the world during the Golden Age of Old Time Music.
Certainly anybody who would claim that the sound of the F5 is somehow inappropriate in this context...
Make sure the instrument is extremely quiet, hard to hold and have tuners that barely function .... that is the true old time sound!
A Gibson oval hole from ANY era would be a great choice...
a few 30's ovals are floating around and some of them have blow my mind!

Hey ryrock
How much modification to the mandolin did you have to do in order to install the Resocoil?
So it seems putting wood screws into your mandolin is the way this new Resocoil Schertler is installed?
Correct me if I am wrong....
Thanks Ken!
I am fine using the old stamped bushings,I really am hoping the diameter is gonna work ... otherwise
I may consider ordering some custom tuners from Mr. Alessi
The sound and...
Ken
Did these bushings fit the holes of your 34 F5 without modification?
Are you saying the holes on an F4 of this specific vintage would be too small for these tuners to fit as opposed to an F5?...
Uncle Ken
I may be interested...
Yes Worm over,I stand corrected...
What instrument were the tuners for before you stopped using them?
How well did they hold tune as you played?
Were they easy...
Thinking about purchasing a set of tuners for my 1928 Gibson F4 from the Siminoff website I am interested in the tuners with the worm under as this mandolin requires them ...
My questions are;
1....
This Gibson is so unique ... might give it a whirl if I had the financial support.http://http://www.vintageinstruments.com/photos/inst35/1936fernful.jpg

Here another direction to turn with this piece of music that is quiet different and very satisfying!
No respect huh? ... I can see why!
This event is put on by folks who have a desire to see their version of Bluegrass Music take it's rightful place right next to Taylor Swift and Kenny Chesney on the mainstream country radio charts....
