    Re: Recording King RA-998

I am skeptical about people wanting to play slide mandolin.
I searched youtube and found 7 videos. So, there are some.
You can do the search and listen for yourself if you would
    like to try that...

    Re: Recording King RA-998

I have not seen a Recording King RA-998 resonator mandolin.

The Recording King uses a 10" hand-spun European Recording King cone.
National cones are 9.5" as are most other options I have read...

Re: Bone blank for saddle on an OM?

There are a lot of dogs out there just doing their jobs making sure bones are clean.
Why would we put them out of work?

Re: Dealing with pokey string ends?

I pull the free end of the string around the string in tension
until it bends. I cut off the extra length. The end springs
    down to the tuning peg.

Re: Fuzz / Distortion pedal recommendations?

I suppose we will hear recommendations, but maybe you don't
need a separate box to do this. Turn up the gain in the front end
or at the input pre-amp in the mixer until you get non-linearity
    and...

    Here are my suggestions.

Maybe you started this on your own because of the virus. Probably
you have learned a lot. However, you are missing some information.

    Re: tenor action height?

My Recording King tenor guitar action measured at the 12th fret is about
0.070 inch on the A string and 0.085 inch on the C string (Imperial units).

I don't know why that would change for...

Re: Amplifying a violin in an electric combo

I hope you are not trying to have us confuse a carbon fiber violin with an electric violin
or suggesting that a carbon fiber violin needs a pickup.

If you are be prepared for some protest.
  16. Re: Blueridge 60, Harley Benton, Martin tenors?

My guess is you would pay a premium for "water resistance".

In the US I do not see used Blueridge guitars with cheap asking
prices, and most of them are 40 models.

    I don't know anything about...

Re: Amplifying a violin in an electric combo

Though I do not play violin, I have been happy with the sound
of violins using the LR Baggs bridge pickup. That pickup is best
used with a high impedance active DI or preamp. I use the
    Tonebone...

  20. Re: HELP! I'm Running Sound For the (sort've) First Time

You don't need to optimize signal to noise ratio and distortion is audible.
So, my advice is keep it in the green. Occasional loud peaks in the yellow
are all right, but there is no need to push...
