  1. Re: Praise for the contoured and rectangular Ameritage cases

I got an Ameritage case for my old F-2. It's built like a tank and weighs about as much. Great case though. Very classy looking.

    Re: Prettiest Peghead Inlays Ever

The Schmergel Devastator has hands down the most blindingly beautiful headstock inlay. Itís simply too brilliant to post photos without risk of retinal damage.

    Re: Kentucky KM-150 vs KM-156

I know you didn't ask, so apologies in advance if I'm out of line. A good friend bought a new Eastman 305 not far from the Kentucky 150 price point. It's a great looking and very good sounding...
  6. Re: Going to Nashville, looking for a new mandolin...

Best of luck to you. Nashville is a great place to look for mandolins.

Re: Your favorite course of strings?

Odd question, but I'm with you. The D course gets the most attention on my mandolin.
  13. Re: Would appreciate help identifying Gibson Mandolin

At least some of the images in the mandolin archives show an inlay between the rings around the oval hole on A-2Z's. I don't know if they all did. Yes it would change the value. A-2Z's generally...
  14. Re: Would appreciate help identifying Gibson Mandolin

A-2? Very nice. No reason I can see to think that's not the original case.

Re: Your "Go To" Song to Demo Your Mando

Whiskey before breakfast. Some times shove the pig's foot a little further into the fire just because I like saying the title.

Was watching television, late at night when the quality stuff is on. The movie was Sharknado: the 4th awakens. During one of the storms suddenly I spied a cameo by super musician Paul Schaffer. He...

Re: When Did You First Realize . . .

I'm pretty sure I'm never going to be as good as I want to be. The older I get, the more ok I am with that. I still get a kick out of learning a new fiddle tune every once in a while though.
  23. Re: Collings Italian Spruce - any identifier?

No, but when you open the case, you can catch a whiff of Parmesan and oregano.

Re: Jos Rogers Jr Mandolin Wurlitzer

I'd spend $50 on it. It even has a cool hard shell case. Actually I'd probably go as much as a couple hundred, especially if was something I really wanted.

    Re: Bought a fixer upper..

That's got to be the widest grained spruce I've seen on a top. Very cool. I have an A-4 about the same vintage. I believe it's serial number is 9041.
