    Re: 1959 Sorkin/Stradolin Catalogue Pages

The address is 6th Avenue at 16th street. it isn't near 48th Street or 28th St (The original Tin Pan Alley). The company was around until 1975. I started getting serious about music a couple of...

    Re: Cleaning a fretboard

Many people rub their fretboards with an oil or an oil based product. There is a lot of myth around this. People think that it re-hydrates the board. It doesn't. If a board is dehydrated, just...

    Re: Cleaning a fretboard

I would start with a slightly damp rag. If things are truly grimy, naptha (lighter fluid) can be used on the worst spots. Conditioning a fretboard is different from cleaning it. I am of the opinion...

The law suit, which was never filed, was a cease and desist letter to Fugi Gen company and it was in regards to headstock shape on guitars. Fugi Gen complied and most other Japanese companies did...

    Re: First World Problems

I think that story has been debunked. They were made in an attempt to make instruments that didn't crack when you took the a hot club to a cold winter night. Plywood became the material of choice...

    Re: Douglas fir

There are woodworkers who would disagree but I think it is most important to have it in your shop for a while. If it comes from a hot and dry place into a more humid place (or vice versa) it will be...

Re: Waverly's on an Older Red Diamond A

This is a fairly common problem. I can find the parts for guitar tuners but not mandolin. I know some people have made them with good results.

    Re: two part epoxy

Epoxy is fairly brittle. I would be concerned about it shattering with impacts that plastic or wood binding would bounce back from. Also it will give less with seasonal movements which could...

    Re: Where’s the easy-does-it method?

You may want to check the setup of your mandolin. While I would not recommend chords that use one finger for more than one course of strings for a beginner, two fingers on adjacent strings at the...

Re: Waverly's on an Older Red Diamond A

Two things, you can snug up the screw holding on the gear. Also some have a small plastic bearing that can break out and make the tuner loose. They are pretty easy to replace.
