I am interested in this as well. Is he getting them from Radio Shack? Is he using them bare, no covering of any kind?
Any pictures?

I just bought a Samick mini guitar, put on some heavy strings and tuned it mandola style (I guess).
F,C,G,D,A
I took the high string off but I suppose I could have left it on.
With the humbucker...
Jethro front
Here is a Jethro that I originally intended on selling. However, once I played it I realized that it would be staying with me. I have had many Rigels come thru G5s, CT110s, G110s, A+ Deluxes, A+...
Went and saw Mark o'Connor and his Hot Jazz Trio tonight at the Strathmore Music Hall in Bethesda, Md.
INCREDIBLE!!
Those guys show the difference between a hack like myself and real musicians!...
I just heard Blue Merle on our local station WRNR in Annapolis, Md. Is that Chris Martin? Also, a little off the subject, How do you like satellite radio? Is it worth the cost? I've been thinking...
Thanks, I think the monitors must have been the problem. How well does the single mic approach work in a loud bar?
We tried the single mic approach once and ended up having horrible feedback problems. We went back to plugging in, it doesn't sound as good as I've heard other groups, but the feedback is cut. Any...
I'm very interested in the Jazzbo. Can anyone tell me more about it?
I just got an ebow to go along with my fender 5 string. COOOL! What a blast!
I wasn't sure if it would be good for instruments or not. I guess I could always split it, shave it down and turn it for chairs or something.
I have come across some very nice black walnut logs and am wondering if anybody here splits and hews their own wood for instruments. If so and are interested in these let me know. There are three...
I have tried the Glissentar! Very cool and lots of potential! I saw it hanging on the wall of Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center.
I don't know who Drew Parker is but I've got A002 that James A. Parker from Pennsylvania built that I like very much. I bought it from Tim Finch over at Deale Bluegrass Shop in Deale, MD.
Time to go for a Rigel!
I bought mine straight from Allen. I browsed their website, allenguitar.com, and gave them a call. I got the bronze TR-2 and really like it.
It seems that with that set up you would definitly need an instrument with a pickup and some way to amplify it. I think a Rigel A+ Deluxe would fit the bill and I think I saw a used one on the Cafe...
yeah, I figured it out the next time around.
I think it's cool that the folks at Rigel are into experimentation. The world would be awfully boring if everything was the same and nobody ever tried anything new.
With all that flame in one place I am surprised that my couch didn't catch on fire!
I thought I would post a couple of pics of some members of my mandolin family and a couple of houseguests while I had them all together.

Sometimes if you are not careful you can end up bending one string slightly and causing it to sound out of tune with the other, just make sure to pick up and put down your fingers cleanly and evenly...
Get an electric mandolin and a very big amp!http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
I have been sweatin' over a Bluett mandolin ever since I visited his shop this winter. I just can't justify spending so much money on a mandolin (even though it is worth it) at my skill level, I...
