Re: Please help! Fixing my pick direction

Doing that exercise daily will re-train your muscle memory. You can do the "ghost notes" but if that is too challening you can play a quarter note as 2 1/8 notes while you are re-training your hand....

    Re: Right hand cure-all exercise

Thanks Don. Yes, string crossings are obviously super important. When I first started doing this I would cross strings G-D, G-A, G-E, D-G, etc. But for me it was too tedious and to be honest not as...

    Right hand cure-all exercise

Here is the right hand cure-all exercise I use. (Not really a cure-all, but it covers some bases) I learned it from Zak Borden, a great teacher, and I am sure Mike Marshall does it in finger busters,...

Here is a little video I created that has an exercise I believe would help you. I am going to make a separate thread for it, but figured it was relevant here.

  7. Re: Question about a Flatiron A model oval hole

Also looks similar to the back of a Gibson A9, which would put it in the Nashville Era. I can't help but wonder if it was retopped to be an A4 at some point. An odd piece indeed. Wonder how it sounds.

Re: for people who don't have deep pockets.

Iíd avoid that Flatiron as it has an integrated fingerboard. Those can be had for cheaper and in my opinion donít sound as good. A Kentucky KM900 Or 950 used should set you straight or a flatiron A...

    Re: Picking faster?

As others have noted, its going to be all about the right hand, especially if you have fiddle experience and knowledge of what to do with the left hand. For my money the best way to improve right...

    Re: Waterloo Mandolin Released

They look cool for what they are. Guessing playability and finish are what you would expect from Collings. If it was my only 1750 for a mandolin canít see how Iíd take it over a used MT though.

    Re: Beware EVOs

I had Lynn Dudenbostel put Evos on my Duff not long after I got it because I didn't like the small frets and it sounds great. Best decision I ever made.

Thanks for the link. Yes, a killer band. Lot of Nashville Bluegrass Band + Block + Tyminski, not a bad.

Honestly, I started playing music in my 20s and donít think I would have had the drive to continue if I couldnít get the variable reinforcement of finding a melody through tab. It took quite some...

Rip to Jeff Austin. Hopefully he has found peace. I can say that Jeff and Yonder were an influence on my becoming a mandolin player. I also met my future wife at a Yonder show.
