    Re: Heritage tenor

Heritage is well-regarded in the electric guitar world. They're ex-Gibson employees that still work out of the old factory in Kalamazoo, making excellent Les Paul & 335-alikes.

    That tenor's going...

Re: String gauges for GDAE on electric tenor

To me its about starting with a string tension you like and then adjusting for string balance as needed.

If you want to bend, go lighter, if not, heavier may be your thing.

    I lean towards the...

I own a Blueridge BR-40TCE that I love! Full sound, and great setup as GDAE.

Re: Down the Tenor Rabbit Hole... (Help)

Hi and welcome to the rabbit hole - glad you could join us! I give you my opinions as someone who mostly plays GDAE and adjacent tunings (FCGD, GDAD).

When you ask what kind of guitar is better...

Re: Tenor Guitar Gallery & Sightings

I'm fortunate to live just up the road from Trevor Healy, a great luthier who makes the occasional tenor; I've posted his 4-string creations before in this thread. Here's his latest: a 00-size,...

Re: C Standard (Guitar) Tuning On Electric Tenor

    Dunraven,

It sounds to me like what you are looking for might well be the Eastwood Warren Ellis Baritone Tenor Guitar. It has four strings, tuned in fifths, and is pitched CGDA--with the C a major...

    Re: Wood sources in Ireland

If the endpin is tapered, then the hold needs to also be the same taper. Since you want the endpin to fit just so, you need a reamer for the taper, or be able to taper the peg by little amounts so...

    Re: Vintage Viaten intonation

This doesn't look right at all. I have just checked the intonation on my own Viaten -- it's just fine on all four strings. 3.5 mm difference in saddle location is a lot, so unless somebody moved...

    Re: Vintage Viaten intonation

You are right.... however, I don't much feel like paying more to a luthier to correct the problem than I paid for the guitar !

I have a simple (though rustic looking !) fix. I removed the saddle...

Re: Mandolin sound changing over time

In these discussions, facts are hard to come by and harder to agree on. While we can agree that things change over time (dust to dust and all that), not much past that is settled in terms of...

    Dang it Fox,

I went to ebay to see this tenor. Ran into an Ibanez AVT-1, used. And had to buy it. I had been looking for one for my daughter, the soon to be music teacher for when a piano is not...

    Re: CGDA to GDAE tuning

Yes, you do. You will have to tune the guitar an octave below mandolin tuning. You can buy individual guitar strings from a guitar store or on line. I would suggest a starting point of .040 (G) .030...

I tuned it to ADAD, started...

Project for building a tenor 8 strings

  21. Re: Total new guy intro and how to tune my new Eastwood WE tenor

While it defeats the purpose of a tenor, there are certainly benefits for guitar players choosing a short scale tenor for comping and soloing.

But for me the magic is in 5th tuning. If I want to...

  25. Re: Acoustic Tenor Guitar and Low Tension String Recommendations

Having lower tension strings shouldn't damage the guitar at all. The lower tension strings just won't bring out the full sound of the instrument.
