  1. Re: Holding on to your personal Holy Grail mandolin

I have a 1992 Givens A4 that I was fortunate to acquire new when I was looking to upgrade from my Kentucky KM200s. Even a blind pig can find an acorn once in awhile. Boy was I ever lucky. The Givens...

I attended in 2021 for the first time. I really enjoyed it and would like to get back. Currently trying to see how it fits into my schedule.

    Re: R L Givens

Older post, but I thought I’d respond.

I have Givens A4 #634 dated 2/13/92. I think it’s interesting that the dates and sequential numbers don’t align with your A4.

    Re: White Mandolins!

Folks I'm in line for #15 and absolutely can't wait. I've been saving for a really nice mandolin for a while and in addition to stashing a bucks away here and there, I've sold off a mandolin, 2...

    Re: White Mandolins

I had the pleasure of meeting Tyler last year while I was in the Bloomington area. I couldn't agree with you more on the fact that he is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and is really...

    Re: R L Givens

I know it's been a while since anyone posted on this thread, but I thought I'd add my Givens to the list. I own an A4, #634, it's dated 2/13/92. I bought it new from Greg Boyd. It's a great...
  10. Re: Thile Transitioning to Full-Time Host of A Prairie Home Compa

No doubt PHC needs an infusion of new wit and wisdom. GK is stale.

Chose to NOT answer my question...sorry for the typo.
  12. Re: What kind of a Fake Gibson F5 do we have here?

Well this mandolin has been relisted on ebay. I sent the seller a question asking who the maker was since he claims to have bought it from the maker. (I would remember that, wouldn't you) and he has...

    Re: My Givens Mandolin

Yep, I've read it. I've thought of buying other instruments as a player, but then I think " what the hell" if this thing wasn't built to be played, why have it?" So I've given (is that a pun) up on...

    Re: My Givens Mandolin

No, I bought it from Greg Boyd. It is my understanding that Greg was making occasional buying trips to Bob's place. Sometimes he would have instruments, sometimes not. It was somewhat of an impulse...

    My Givens Mandolin

    8000880009

Bought this new in '92. Since I got it, it's been my main, and for the past few years, my only mandolin. This mando has the bark and a nice balanced tone. I've "tried" to find other...
