How do you explain your contradiction of you own statement about google trends in the thread linked? How do fewer searches equate to measuring actual decline in the instrument?

Not a matter of taste at all. It's functionality and protection. That a few people refuse to accept there is legitimate merit for us in one, we get. And it's not a fashion statement as some suggested.
Most of those ads are for brand new mandolins being sold by dealers. There are 3 used now, or 2, if you don't count mr. wet feet. Don't see how that makes them any different from any other mandolin.
