I have my standard guitar strung up as a tenor (GDAE) and it works fine... not sure of the scale length of the tenor or length of mandocello strings but I think the mandocello is a shorter scale.

Found this at a pawn shop... $150 including case (I'm gonna use the case for a custom that is being built for me anyways).. Ain't no Gibson A-5 but I've always wanted a jethro two point oval haha so...

The mandolin is only an instrument to produce sound. I feel I need to practice regularly to keep up with playing MANDOLIN, but not to play music, that is why piano is such an appealing instrument.

I have been using the EXP74's strings for years with great results. I only use the J's when I don't have any EXP's around

Ok, so I recently noticed ever so slightly a 'vibration'.. sounds like something is loose inside the instrument itself (brace?) and vibrating. It's not rattling either.

Some here may also consider the fact I don't know a single Monroe lick mandolin abuse...

I find I can focus better when practicing in private..
