I know this is a mandolin forum, but I figured builders could help me. TIA

I like to noodle on my mandolin or tenor banjo while I watch the news at night, but it (understandably) drives my wife nuts. I want an instrument quiet enough that I can noodle to my heart's content...
Stewmac has a really inexpensive 6 string mini Telecaster electric guitar kit which is cute as all getout;

Thanks Aidan-- I had seen that before. The video is very good but I didn't want to mess with buying separate strings so I went with the John Pearce Irish Tenor set;

Depending on what kind of music you want to play, a tenor banjo can be a great instrument, with a fairly easy transition from mando. Variety is good.
I have a tenor,set up to play Irish trad with...
I agree that learning how to do the setup yourself is a great idea. Any wooden stringed instrument can use a tweak from time to time, and it's good to know how to do at least the basics yourself.
It doesn't have to be called Rosewood to be affected by CITES. Any wood of the Dalbergia genus is a Rosewood. This includes Cocobolo,Tulipwood (not Tulip Poplar) and African Blackwood.
Do whatever you like the sound of best.
FWIW-piano tuners intentionally tune the double and triple sets of strings a tad off. A piano tuned "perfectly" in tune sounds dull.
Why not make your own? You can get violin chin rest clamps from International Violin. All you need to do is cut a piece of wood to the outline that you want the rest to be, carve and sand it to...
I love it. That finish looks antique without a lot of bogus "distressing" marks. You can be proud of this!
Excuse my asking, but are you sure it's set up properly? Since you don't play yet, you...
Right, and where's the Pawlonia?
For me it would be a Campanella Due (two point). Long before I played mandolin I was (still am) a huge classical music fan. I've always admired the violin and details of it's construction and finish....
Savage playing man! I particularly like some of the different things you do in the third section.
Why not try some inexpensive soft picks to see if a softer pick makes the difference you want? If they'll let you, bring your mandolin to a local music store that has a good range of picks and maybe...
I once made a Birdseye Maple penny whistle for a customer, custom stained a blue color to match his blue guitar. It was actually pretty attractive.

Unless she's also a musician and you can play together. Playing music is popular in Israel so you might find some interesting people who can teach you some different types of music and/or jam.

The Meyerhoff is in the Mt.Vernon section of Baltimore. That neighborhood doesn't seem bad.We've been there a half dozen times now, with absolutely no problems. There's a good parking garage almost...
OK, so it's very nearly a year away, but I'm not going to miss this chance to see Avi with the Baltimore symphony.

I got an A without holes from IV, and cutting the oval hole was easy.
Hmmm... If I started out now, I could be in NYC in time for the show,assuming there were still tickets.
Are they taking that whole lineup on the road?
