Definitely home made. Perhaps Martin Stillion might have an idea.

Re: Kate Wolf Accompanied By Two Mandolins – 1985

Randy Sabien- the dude mandolin player- is an incredible jazz fiddle player from northern Wisconsin. I didn't even know that he played mandolin. He obviously does, and quite well.

    Re: Very Tempted...

I had a 5 string in white. They're very well made and sound good. The multi pickups give you more options. I can't remember exactly why I moved mine along to a new owner (this was a few years ago). I...
  4. Re: “Satan is Real” Louvin Brothers movie looks like it’s happeni

That would be so cool. Just read that book, and it was a trip. Those boys could sure write and play- and what a wild life! It needs to be on the big screen.

    Re: Old Marty Stuart pics

Very cool. Marty was a child star. He sure looks young in those pictures. Who's the fiddle player? Chubby Wise?

Re: Steve Earl and his Gibson mandolins

I also missed the reference in the video. Amazing that he was able to pull it off considering his loss.

Re: Steve Earl and his Gibson mandolins

Steve is most definitely "The Man". What a true eccentric. And I mean that as a compliment. Have seen him several times live- and each show was completely different. That old Gibson A that he played...

    Re: No motivation

I hear you brother. All my spring and summer gigs were cancelled. All local music has been cancelled for the most part. I too not only don't feel like playing music, but don't even care to listen to...

Love that color John. If it was a 5 stringer, I'd be all over it.

Re: Covid-19 is keeping me busy in my shop!

So, how much is the middle one- the natural 5 stringer with 2 pickups? And also, how much would the aqua 5 stringer? I did just sell My National RM 1, so I have room in the arsenal. Thanks, Chief.

Re: Covid-19 is keeping me busy in my shop!

Looking good John. Any of those for sale? Not that I need another instrument, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I still think you make the best electric mandolin for the money. I love mine and play it all...

    Cozart

So does anyone know anything about a Cozart electric mandolin? They look pretty cool, and I'm sure from China or that neighborhood, but I'm wondering if they're worth a look or are complete junk....

I actually saw that a few weeks ago, and seriously thought of buying it. I love oddball off the wall kind of things, and that certainly fits the bill.

    Re: Resonators

I used to have one of those- it was very cool. With a pickup. I can't remember why I passed it along, but I sure wished I would've kept it. I don't remember what I sold it for, but that price seems a...

Hey- I've owned several resos', and they're great fun. Still own a few. Have had both classic models and newer ones. The Wailing I owned, while very well built, was smaller and kind of tinny sounding...

    Re: Humidifying problems

I believe, and somebody can correct me, that the humidifiers that fit in the F holes, humidify from within the instrument. The humidity in the case is not that important, as the instrument is still...

Re: RY COODER on the Mainline

I always liked that song, and Ry has been one of my musical heroes forever. So that thing he's playing is basically a small guitar? I think I've seen them for sale. Mandolin sized, but tuned like a...

Thanks Mandobar. He makes wonderful instruments (although I've never actually owned one). I guess I should follow the original thread and say that I've had more time to practice since I was laid off...

Three fairly decent pickers there. You know, sometimes I think I'm a pretty good musician, and then I see a clip like that and realize just how limited I really am. Something to shoot for I guess....

That copy is a Jay Roberts made in Yuba City Ca, and sold in Tiny's music store in Sacramento Ca. I'm lucky enough to own one. Wish mine had the Bigsby, but it's very cool and fun to play just the...
