    Re: 2020 NAMM Show Report

There's a bunch of black magic going on with these bridges. I don't want to hand out information I'm not 100% sure on but I was like, "it'll do WHAT?" when I heard. I may be seeing Steve again late...

Re: New Mandolin Day - Ellis

Handmade has become an unimportant concept to me. Much of what we admire about mandolin fit and finish come from the use of CNC machines. Doesn’t diminish
the end result at all. What I remember...

    Re: Damage to Loar A5???

I've pointed out things like this before to a certain well-known vintage guitar dealer who will remain nameless.....his response, "no biggee, knock a dollar off the price!"

Re: D'Addario Strings - Ask Us Anything

Didn't read my post did ya?
Tearing those labels off without damaging the string and then having to clean the strings with naphtha are the reasons for the complaint.

    No more EXP74's?

Did I miss something? Is D'Addario no longer making EXP74's?

I see EJ74's, EXP75's and EXP74CM's, but no EXP74's available from the online purveyors (Just Stings, Strings and Beyond, Sweetwater,...

I thought of sliding the tabs the length of the string but I figured that would leave gum on the entire string. Looks like that is not a problem, but it still doesn't solve the problem of gum on the...

Why did you get rid of the EXP74 strings? My dealer told me they were discontinued. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

    Re: XT D'Addario Mandolin Strings?

These are nice strings. Feel like uncoated. I'm sure they will last a good while and sound fine if ypu like phosphor bronze.

The XTs won't be on my mando very long.

Can't wait to get the Monels...

Sticky: Re: Loar Picture of the Day

I recommend no. It's original to the mandolin. Removal was tried on an unsigned currently for sale. End result is "finish has been messed with"

    Re: 1918 f4

I am certainly no expert - but to me it looks like normal 100 year old wear, accentuated by uneven lighting . . .

Beautiful, nonetheless - thanks for sharing.
