There's the Mel Bay Renaissance and Baroque solos for mandolin, which are mostly arrangements from other instruments for the mandolin. You'll have to buy the books though, but personally I think the...
thank you for sharing this!
This was very good, congratulations!
I didn't even know what that was at the time.. heh but yea, I guess I'll save up some money and email him some time
amazing! thanks, I guess I have to go look for some birds eheh!
oh and btw, I'm sorry if I hijacked the thread...
Thanks for your reply. I really don't know, I bought it from Mr Dave Hynds, but he didn't know the maker, only that it is probably from East Germany. Here's the link of him playing it, if you wanna...
wait, is it a quill as in one of those used for writing that you have to dip in ink? Or does it need to be specially made to be used as a pick?
where does one find a quill plectrum nowadays?
Hi. I recently bought a bowlback mandolin which however had no integrated armrest on it. I've been hearing great things about those things, but I haven't been able to realise yet if I can buy one and...
it's kind of weird when he does the glissandos, since it's a fretless instrument, but very nice! thanks for sharing

It seems that Dave Hynds really is a credited person around here. I't seems I'll need to contact him, but it'll be no use if I can't meet him in person and try his mandolins. Do you know what part of...
I've heard of that luthier for his classical guitars. However, aren't those mandolins the "portuguese-style ones"? I really want a bowlback to be honest. And thanks for the heads up!
They're really cheap, specially for repaired/old instruments, does this mean they're bad? I wouldn't feel comfortable with buying an instrument without trying it first, though... even if I don't know...
Thank you both for your replies. If they can all be used for classical I'll still choose the Neapolitan, as it has my favourite sound and looks as well. Also, I'm from Portugal.
So what I called...
Hi, I'm new to mandolins (been playing classical guitar for about 3-4 years), and recently have been gaining an increasing interest in this instrument. I haven't got one yet, though, and I'd like you...
