I would do one of two things. I would either get a mandolin-banjo or install a pick up and use a small amp to bring your volume up to the level of the other instruments.

I'm thinking in my case that vintage might be a good way to go. There is just something very cool about playing a vintage instrument. They seem to have a vibe about them.
I checked out your website. Beautiful work!
That's what I use on my '17 Gibson A.
I'm hoping someone here can answer this question for me. I play mainly celtic music on my 1917 Gibson. I would like to branch out and start playing in the local bluegrass sessions. My question is...
When I bought my 1917 it came with flatwounds on it. Really like them. I have tried several other strings but I'm probably going to go back to flatwounds.
Congrats on your new mandolin. Enjoy!
I haven't used any other picks on my mandolin since getting the Blue Chip. Glad I got the 1R.
Thank you all for the responses I received asking about Blue Chip Picks. My first Blue Chip came today, a TAD 60 1-R. What can I say, its awesome. I can't believe the difference this pick makes in my...
I decided to go with a TAD 60 1R. Should be here in a couple of days and I will let you know how I like it.
First of all, thank you to all the responded! I will probably end up going with either the TAD or TAD-1R. I like the size and shape of that pick and it may be nice to have one rounded corner as an...
Just wondering what everyones favorite Blue Chip pick is and what you like best about them. Shape, tone, feel, whatever it is about the style you use. I'm planning on getting one and would like to...
Hi All,
I have to replace the tuners on my The Loar LM400. Any suggestions on some direct replacements would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Which Blue Chip do you use?
Hi,
Its time to replace the tuners on my LS-400. Any recommendations on a set that will drop right in without any modifications to the holes?
Thanks
I have played the Gretsch New Yorker mandolins. The 9310 was the stand out. Nice little mandolin for the money.
Thanks Rod! Very much appreciated!
Thanks Steve
I have checked the mandolin over as well as I can and everything seems to be in order. The f holes could use a little work.
It does have the stock bridge on it. I really think the...
Thanks for the suggestions! I checked the notches at both ends and they all look to be in order. String height seems to be good also and it has new strings on it. I'm thinking it may need a bridge...
I have a The Loar LM400 that I purchased last year. I have been very happy with it and it is opening up very nicely. I have one issue with it. The e strings don't seem as loud as the other courses....
I have a 1951 Martin that I use for playing celtic music. It has a very nice tone and I enjoy it very much.
No I have never regretted purchasing an A style. I myself prefer A styles and my next mandolin will be an A style also.
Beautiful!
My advise is to you would be try both and pick one based on the tone you like. I stared with a vintage Martin and then a The Loar LM-400. They have completely different tones but I enjoy them both.
I like the look of that kit and the price is right. It says it has a bolt on neck. Is that an area for concern.
