Gibson EM-200: Changed through the years?

Gibson produced the EM-200 between 1954 and 1971. I've had the opportunity to play only one, a 57/59 (can't remember)... i'm wondering if anybody can comment on changes, were there any differences...

    Re: 1937 Gibson electric mandola

Nice looking mandola, and nice to see they got the pickup placement right, like the em-100/125s, and unlike the em-150, which is strange since it came later, you figure they woulda improved on the...

Re: Here Comes The Rain Again

That's a really cool cover, thanks for sharing it!

I've always thought that something about the sound of the doubled strings on a mando make it a good fit for pop tunes, something about the rich...

Yes please! Would love to see it up on a bit torrent site if not on youtube. Or an old fashioned trading chain?

I just want to second what somebody posted above: get yourselves the Tiffany Transcriptions! There is some off-the-wall playing from everybody, but for me the electric strings really stand out, and...

Re: Rookie mistake on my first mando

Yeah, even I could tell you that what that is, is a set up issue, which is what you took it to buddy for. So clearly buddy didn't have a clue. I'll chime in with the others and say, with a PROPER...

I love this song, and I love how - while it's not exactly a new song, it became new with the OCMS - and became an "instant traditional" that everybody knows and has magically always been in the...

I've had a few concussions myself, although for me it's always been about light/vision sensitivity, sound is usually ok. TV was...

    Re: RIP Pete Seeger

"Woody's Rag" was one of the first I learned on, too! The whole "Goofing Off Suite" album is a toe-tingling piece of art that still sounds great today, IMHO.

    Re: RIP Pete Seeger

I hear you. At 94, healthy to the end (he was chopping wood until 10 days ago, apparently), you can't say "too soon gone" or anything, but I'll admit i'm terribly saddened. I thought he would just...
  20. Re: What Kind of Mando is Steve Earle Playing in this Picture?

He switches instruments for pretty much every song the last couple of times I've seen him, just showing off his collection i think. Had a Gibson EM-200 that he only played on "Copperhead Road" fer...

    Re: What's up with Gibson?

It's also worth mentioning that, brand name aside, the Gibsons are real pretty. Guitar shopping with my son, we tried a $3200 Gibson that didn't really sound any better than some guitars half the...

    Re: Curry.......is it permanent?

Well, i have some wood kitchen implements that have been stained by curry but do, in fact, fade over time (mind you, they are being exposed to heat and hot oils that - hopefully - a mando would not!)

    Re: Bad years for Gibson?

I too was going to suggest a Jethro Burns A5, which i know they made around that time.

We bought a Blue "Snowball" which is great for youtube-level recording, and for the price you can find a used one for these days, probably about the best value for your money. The newer "Yeti" ones...
