Re: How Long do your J74Strings last?

I change them (J74s) when they break, which is almost never, or when the G or D string where's through.
I play 1/2-1 hour per day, I can go years before changing a string.

Re: I don't like F styles. Anyone else?

I prefer F style with Tone-gard and the more bling the better, I find the F just as comfortable to hold as my A style.

    Thanks for sharing.
I recently shipped a Mandolin UPS, the insurance cost was as much as the cost to ship, thankfully all went well.

At more than twice the cost; it's no wonder that the 615 is a step up from the 520.

    Re: Humidifier for Mandolin/Case

Good points from BW; at 35 - 50% RH, most won't need to increase humidity. Living in the desert, with single digit humidity levels, I monitor my instruments closely.

Re: Arm rest. Y or N?

If you decide to use an arm rest, be sure to scrape off the imitation cork from the bracket and replace it with a thin strip of leather in order to protect the finish.

    Re: Help with upgrade, please

The LM 400 is an A style, lots of The Loar mandolins pass through The Mandolin Store as well as Folkmuscian;...reputable dealers, with very little, if any inventory at this time.
