Thanks Jonas! It sure is a good 'un.
  2. Re: Jazzin' up a Swedish children's song - Kimble A5 in action

    Thanks for your encouraging words!

Statman? Yes, he's definitely an inspiration, especially his eclectic and dynamic approach to playing... mixing bluegrass with jazz and folk music.

    Summer?...
  3. Jazzin' up a Swedish children's song - Kimble A5 in action

Recorded only using a Zoom H2, GarageBand and my beloved Kimble A5.

The song is called "Idas sommarvisa", melody by Georg Riedel and lyrics (though not included in my recording) by Astrid...

Re: Tenor guitar - sound clip, "Rain and Snow"

    Thanks guys!

I'm really pleased with this tenor guitar... it's the perfect cross-bread between mandolin och guitar. I can drive it really hard if I choose to, to get those really punchy...

Tenor guitar - sound clip, "Rain and Snow"

I was browsing through my old Garageband recordings and found this one. At bit rough, true, but I thought some of you might be interested in hearing my Sundberg tenor guitar in action.

    The song...

Re: Ellis A vs. Kimble A--how do they compare?

I notice that you have a Collings MT... I used to have one too, but now own a Kimble A5. You can read some of my reflections about the difference between these instruments here.

    Have not played an...

So... you just put on a recording of Compton/Long and pretend to play - that's what you did, huh?

Just kidding, great playing, both of you! That Ellis surely sounds great.

    Re: Best Second Instrument

My vote is for a tenor guitar (guess an octave mandolin or a tenor banjo would do the trick too):

    1. Has given me a better stretch and stronger pinky.

    2. Has helped me to understand the map of...

    Re: Archtop tenor builders?

May I suggest Andrew Mowry, Paul Lestock (of Arrow instruments), or Joel Eckhaus (of Earnest instruments). As far as I know they have all built archtop tenor guitars... all top notch builders too.
  23. Have you ever heard Chris Thile play the guitar? If not...

...then here's your chance, check out this clip from a Dave Rawlings Machine concert. He enters at about 1:20 and there's some cool interplay with Dave at the end.
