The jam at Backstreet Pub is still alive. They let us use the room upstairs when it is wet or cold (or both). Kicks off around 2PM on Sunday afternoon.
There is going to be a Monday evening jam on Nov. 20 at the Eclub on Emerald Isle from 7-9PM. Not sure where you are located, but this is a new jam that is just getting started. It's open to all...
I have just moved to the Coastal NC area (Beaufort, Havelock, Jacksonville, Etc.) and have been keeping my ear to the ground for jams in the area. Anyone know of any open friendly jams in the area?
All of the above are good suggestions. My Randy Wood had the same problem. I checked and adjusted until I was blue in the face. If finally broke down and ordered a pearl nut blank. Along this...
Had a fusion @ C4/5,C5/6 about 9 0r 10 years ago and had a laminectomy done above and below that on the tenth of OCtober. I don't regret any of the neck surgeries I've had. Joe, you hang in there. ...
Pat & I will be there! I'll be looking forward to jamming with ya!
Thanks for the response. I've been toying with some ideas for a while, but these pics are really giving me some meat to chew on.
I am in the process of developing some nice wooden mandolin stands, but I need some ideas. How about some pics of nice stands made in your shops?
My Gibson gets J74's. It's had them on it since it was new. I tried GHS and DR strings, but they didn't perform as well. The Randy Wood is a bit of a strange beast. Through trial and error, I've...
One is called Sweetness. My Randy Wood I call Nanook (got it form Alaska). And my other one was already named Emma Rose.
Guess i meef to yaw aoe;; check. :)) (translation: guess i need to use spell check)
Well, I'm back down in the swamps and bayous of the Mississippi Gulf Coast after a wonderful weekend at Cabin Fever. Wonderful reunions with old friends and some great bluegrass pickin'. All good...
I have a violin with a repair date from 1876. Not really sure how old it is exactly, though.
I have seen Michael's mandolin, but have never heard it or played it. But, if Big Joe thinks it's a better mandolin than Brutus, then it's got to be a hoss.
The price of John Hutto's mandolins have increased since his death, but not by a huge jump. You certainly don't see very many of them for sale. All of the Hutto mandolins I have played are killer. ...
Okay Jim. You're on! I'll expect to see you here as soon as I get everything lined up. You'll have to bring your own helmet, though.
Okay. Now that I have your attention, I have been conversing with Alan via e-mail about conducting a workshop here on the Gulf Coast (Mississippi). I moved down here six months ago from Virginia...
If you don't listen to mandolin music or mandolin players, then how do you know what the mandolin is supposed to sound like? #Perhaps a visit to some of the old Italian (Neapolitan) mandolin masters...
My Gibson Alan Bibey is Dave Harvey signed. It's a hoss of a mandolin and I play it hard. Gibson mandolins are what they are today because Charlie started building to Loar specs during his tenure. I...
Thanks for the response! I'll definitely check the West Mobile Music jam. Haven't found anything on the Southern Traditional Music. I've been going up to the Bellevue area on Friday, but that is an...
They're everything they say they are. Great mandolin. Very powerful and it's still needs to open up some more!
Just pulled the trigger on a 2004 RW. I'll post my findings soon. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
I love my Alan Bibey! It has the pop for BG and the bell like tones for playing other types of music besides bluegrass. I'm mainly a BG picker, but I enjoy experimenting with other styles as well. I...
Since there has been no response, I guess I'll just have to get one started when I get there in mid-March. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
