    Re: Non-musician Luthiers

I have built a few mandolin family instruments.
If you asked my wife she’d say I wasn’t a musician :whistling:
I can play quite a few chords and bits of songs. But don’t really put in the time to...

Re: You gotta see this ...

I doubt that the plastic is taking any load. Think cigar box guitar, ie the neck takes the load but you can’t see it for the box.

I am really enjoying your videos. I am building something similar. Not quite as complicated though. I wish I had thought of the centre section cutting out and gluing. I did a lot of drilling and...

    Re: J.L. Smith still building!

Good luck although you probably don’t need it. I set up my page easily enough, Electric Mandolin on Facebook. I don’t post on it as much as I could or maybe should.
I am building in my “spare”...

I believe I used this site https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.electricherald.com/gibson-les-paul-guitar-templates/amp/ for my SG solid bodied five string octave and the four string mando. My daughter...

This is the fretboard template tool. It will give you an accurate shape to work from. http://www.ekips.org/tools/guitar/fretfind2d/

Re: Does anyone have a PDF of E-Mando plans??

I built mine with 19 frets with a bolt on neck the blank was maybe six inches longer than the fretboard. If you are using four on a plate tuners then you need a couple of inches between them and the...

Re: Does anyone have a PDF of E-Mando plans??

I found various guitar drawings that I printed off and used as my template.
For the neck in particular the fretboard I used fret2find iirc you can put in all your sizes nut bridge etc (it doesn’t...

    Re: Maggie May - tutorial

Chord Calculus on IPhone, I don’t know if they do an android version too.
It is fairly simple to use, but can give out a few unplayable chords. At least not without Stretch Armstrong’s hands.

Aluminium, steel or any other metal for that matter. As long as it forms a Faraday cage.
Altoids tins etc are common for guitar amps or effects for that reason.
