  1. Re: If you always wanted one of those sunfish style mandolins

Looking at the two I can't help but see the early Simpsons (Tracey Ullman Show) and the tamed down later Simpsons drawing. Brash and then smoothed out and less likely to offend.

Wow! I want. I don't know what I'd put it on, but I want.

  6. Re: Need help valuing my used Asheville F-Style Mandolin

I just found an old ebay listing (2011) with hard case $250 starting bid, no takers.

Rule of thumb for me, new price less 1/3 if good condition.

How much of a concern should a glued fret be if later considering a re-fret?

    Re: Overclock your mandolin?

I figured he was trying to "coin" a new hip term for improving something's performance, applying it to any such act. Maybe it's already a thing and just hasn't caught up with a guy my age.

    loose (?) frets

I have a couple fret wires that have sprung loose at the end and so are too high. Best way to correct this? Should I remove, radius them and then reinstall? I read a post on the forum from someone...

    Re: Overclock your mandolin?

I've heard of re-voicing before, but never gave it much thought/ really knew what it was.

Overclocking??? Even in the YT description the poster wrote "We revoiced an Epi".

I'll see about adding photos but any style of bridge I've seen, flat top or arch tapers (on at least one axis) at the ends (except for some solid body electrics).

    bridge taper

Hello good folks. Sorry if this has already been discussed/explained, but I didn't see it in a quick couple of searches.

In a jam, I'd think the tuning you're most comfortable in.

For me that would be standard tuning which also makes it easy to 'follow' the mando - "samish" chords, just moved.

Re: mandolin same tuning as a tenor banjo?

You could try tuning it in 5ths and just remove the 5th string and capo accordingly.
