    Re: Crossrock Vintage wood case

Just looking at the picture, I don't like the lid padding putting pressure on the bridge. Should be over the neck and tailpiece only.

    Re: Loars at Carter’s

There's a lot flying under the radar that's selling so fast it's dizzying, or doesn't even appear anywhere. Music Emporium sold $22K worth in two Ellis Mandolins in a couple of hours yesterday that...

Pretty hard to see -- it's a nighttime campfire scene -- but here's Brando with a mandolin in Missouri Breaks.

Re: Amazing Nugget F5 at Carter's!

Ross is a killer fiddler and mandolin picker. His sister plays and sings for Asleep at the Wheel. Much talent in that family!
  6. New music from Adrian Gross and Friends - Adeline

Usually don't do news releases around string band projects that happen to include mandolin because there are just too many of them. But Adrian Gross is among us and this project recorded during the...

    Re: Mandolin Pricing?

I’ve selected wood and “components” on numerous occasions from Collings. Factory isn’t always “factory”.

There was never a takeover of Breedlove or Weber by Two Old Hippies. This is a false narrative. Hostile takeovers are designed to use big money on top of big money to make a lot of money through...
  9. Re: Article: Out of Stock - A Pandemic Supply and Demand Story

This didn't just happen. It's been this way for some time but inventory has been hammered long enough that the record sales some have mentioned have turned sharply. Real concern from retailers has...

    Re: Crossrock Mandolin Cases

Hi Russ... my case arrived with an extra "carrying strap" around the headstock which did prevent the case from standing upright on the treble side. As I didn't see myself using it I removed the strap...

    Re: Pawn Shop F5L

The last digit is the decade of manufacture, and the first digit is the year of the decade.
    So 0283109 is 1990.

The numbering system on mandolins is different from the system used on guitars.

True. Apologies. I would edit if I could, and just mention that he builds a very fine A5.
  14. Re: Collings MT2 versus Single Shop Builder Purchase?

Everybody's got their choice, but when it comes down to it, no dealer will turn down a Collings when you want to trade it for something else. I have seen more disappointed faces from owners of other...

Re: $750 Collings mandolin case at elderlys

This is well said. Part of the attractiveness of this case is what it tells you about an individual - what he can do when he really sets his mind to something. I'm sure this may sound like...

Well said, a big amen from me.

Mr. Collings gifts and commitment are seen in everyone of these cases as well as the instruments he crafted. I'm very thankful to have one, it reminds me of him &...

Manufacture of all Collings cases ceased awhile back. Very, very unlikely they will ever be produced again. My understanding form the GM the equipment was moved off-site and the building that housed...
  18. Kate Wolf Accompanied By Two Mandolins – 1985

Kate Wolf was another talent that was taken from us all too soon. She’s a staple in my music library and “Like A River” (the studio version) came up this morning. Thought I’d share a live version...
