You might want to check if they still have those sessions in Uig (Trotternish peninsula). But be prepared for lots of pipes and pipe music.
Edinbane Inn, Wednesday evenings
Bosville Hotel, Portree, Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons
Cellar bar, Dunvegan Hotel, Thursday evenings
Old Inn, Carbost, Friday evenings
Saucy Mary's, Kyleakin, Sunday evenings
The sessions at Uig were held in the Community Centre, but I'm not sure that they're hosting any at the present.
Dunvegan, Edinbane and Carbost are all well-established sessions that you can be confident will be running. The other two, I'd check ahead with the venue.
There's also the Plockton Inn just over the bridge. They have sessions Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Very picturesque village where they filmed Hamish Macbeth. Easily accessible now they've got that bridge. Again I'd check ahead before making the trip.
Thanks for your very thorough list houseworker. I'm glad of that myself.
Though you're based in Norfolk you sound like you're very familiar with Skye.
Thank you for the tips
Not really, although I do head out that way from time to time.
There are far more sessions than those I listed, simply asking around when you're on Skye will turn up plenty of options. The Cellar Bar session has been run for many years by Peter Morrison (of the Peatbog Faeries) and a Google search for Dunvegan Session will turn up his email address. Duncan would get more up-to-date and accurate information by making contact with Peter, who's more than happy to hear from intending visitors in search of a tune.
Phone ahead:
Edinbane Inn 01470 582414 http://www.edinbaneinn.co.uk/ (currently showing sessions for Wednesday, Friday and Sunday on the website).
Bosville Hotel, Portree 01478 612846 http://www.bosvillehotel.co.uk/ (no mention of sessions on website)
Cellar Bar, Dunvegan Hotel 01470 521497 http://www.hoteldunvegan.co.uk/ (website mentions live music most Thursdays and Saturdays)
Old Inn, Carbost 01478 640205 http://www.theoldinnskye.co.uk/ (no mention of sessions on website)
Saucy Mary's, Kyleakin 01599 534845 http://www.saucymarys.com/ (sessions aren't mentioned among their entertainment listings)
Plockton Inn 01599 544222 http://plocktoninn.co.uk/ (website mentions sessions Tuesdays and Thursdays). Plockton would be a bit of a trek for you but I can definitely recommend their seafood restaurant.
Uig has a community website http://www.uig-isleofskye.com/ and there's a Facebook group, but neither have any mention of sessions. My memory of sessions at the community hall was a false one, I was thinking of Uig on Lewis. It seems that Uig's Bakur Bar has sessions from time to time 01470 542212, no website I'm afraid.
Old School Restaurant, Dunvegan 01470 521421 http://www.oldschoolrestaurant.co.uk/ wasn't on my original list, but sometimes hosts sessions led by Peter Morrison.
There's a good entry for the Cellar Bar at The Session https://thesession.org/sessions/372 which will give you Peter Morrison's contact details. He should be home when you make your trip.
How many sessions you get to is likely to be limited only by your stamina and your willingness to travel. I presume you're staying close to Loch Ainort, in which case Carbost will be closest, and both Dunvegan and Edinbane a fair stretch I'm afraid. But you'll pretty much have the roads to yourself! Have a great time, the scenery is spectacular, and maybe you'll strike lucky and find a session right where you're staying.
