Brescian/Cremonese mandolin body dimensions
I'm planning in the future (of course commissions get built first!) to build some Brescian or Cremonese mandolins with 4 single nylon/gut strings. I just wondered if anyone had one they'd be willing to share body dimensions of?
Using pictures found online (body join at 10th fret), and scaling them to fit the scale length, suggests to me the body should be only 24cm long, which seems quite short, so I wanted to check if that's correct.
Re: Brescian/Cremonese mandolin body dimensions
Stephen Morey mentions 6 Cremonese mandolins for his book with the body lengths 245mm,226mm, 243mm, 225mm, 235mm, 229mm though he notes most of those measurements were from the various museums' catalogues. I have Stephen's photos of three of those instruments. Send me an email and I can send them across.
Cheers

Wonderful! Thanks so much for the info! Seems like I was pretty much spot on then. I've e-mailed you as requested.
