Really great clip, does anyone have the TAB for this?
Here's a video on Youtube where you can see a simpler version, good shot of fingers:

One of my first mandolin and slide guitar heroes. Still love the "Into the Purple Valley" album!
Saw hometown star Colin James perform last night in a packed small club with Steve Dawson's band backing him up - absolutely stellar. Steve Dawson is a multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire, on slide guitar, lap steel, pedal steel, 12-string mando-guitar, banjo, etc. Colin is also an incredible slide player, and the interplay was amazing. Colin played mostly acoustic and electric guitars, but also played mandolin a couple of times. One of the tunes was Billy the Kid, after which he acknowledged Ry Cooder's version.
Interestingly, to me, was that Colin had six guitars (2 acoustic + 4 electric) which his guitar tech re-tuned before every song, but the mandolin was sitting on stage for over an hour before he played it, and never got the tuning treatment.
Sorry no video but here's Ry's version....

It's not blues, but it's good.
