"I Closed My Heart's Door" lyrics
This song is a great bluegrass song, originally done by Roy Acuff and maybe Wilma Lee and Stoney Cooper. The Nashville Bluegrass Band also recorded it sometime back. Unfortunately the lyrics don't seem to be available on the internet. If anybody has them it would be appreciated if you would post them on the cafe. Chorus and one verse goes something like this:
In my book of life, your memories I'll see
As the pages unfold, your memory I'll keep
Like water that flows, from here to someplace
Your love left a mark, time can't erase.
Chorus:
When you walked away, I closed my heart's door
But I hope that you'll find, what your're searching for
But you can't come and go, like you did before
No need to return, I closed my heart's door.
If anybody has the rest, please post! thanks!
Re: "I Closed My Heart's Door" lyrics
Here are the full and corrected lyrics of "I Closed My Heart's Door". I believe this song is credited to Stoney Cooper and a fine song it is. This song was also recorded by my brother, Steve Young, on his RCA album "No Place To Fall" released about 1977/78, with me singing harmony. It is done in a bit more of a country way on his album and it's a fine track.
"I CLOSED MY HEART'S DOOR"
You come and you go like waves on the sand
And when the tide turns
You head for dry land
You must have love to keep you warm
Like a sailor of old
Any port in a storm
(Chorus)
When you walked away I closed my heart's door
But I hope that you'll find what your're searching for
But you can't come and go like you did before
No need to return
I closed my heart's door
Now in my book of life your picture I'll keep
As the pages unfold your memory will creep
Like the water that roll for years in one place
Your love left a mark time can't erase
(Repeat chorus) When you walked away I closed my heart's door...
