In the same vein of Steve Martin and Bernie williams on the banjo and classical guitar, are there celebrities that play mandolin that most folks don't even know that they play? Just curious.

Here's a fairly comprehensive past thread about this.
My favorite celebrity mandolinist? Probably Milla Jovovich.
Do a Google image search for 'milla jovovich mandolin'...warning: Viewer Discretion is Advised.
Most people who play mandolin, if they are known much at all, are known for something else. :))
How did you track me down?!?!?
Sorry, Ed, Milla Jovovich does not play mandolin, only poses with it - same as Marilyn Monroe. There is mandolin on a few songs on her album, but played by other people.
Who's Bernie Williams?
Number 51 in your programs, Number One in your hearts, center fielder for the Yankees for twelve years. In 1998 he won the AL batting title, a Gold Glove, and was on a World Series winning team. Since retiring from baseball in 2007, he's become a full-time musician (guitar), and was nominated in 2009 for a Latin Music Grammy.
Williams is up for the Hall of Fame in 2012, and while I doubt a first-ballot selection, there's a good chance he may end up there. Thanx to the Yanks' string of post-seasons when Williams played for them, he has a slew of playoff/World Series records.
Marylin was holding a mandolin? I didn`t notice it myself.... see I couldn`t even spell her name correctly....
Just thought I'd mention, Steve Martin has been playing banjo for a long time, since before he started in comedy - that's one reason he was able to work it into his act - well before he attained celebrity status.
Willie - see the other thread, #62. :whistling:
Hi JB. In this interview she says she kinda', sorta' plays the mandolin (on one song), though she admits to less than expert musicianship. Ah, the illusion lives! :)
I had forgotten about that other thread. I just read through it. Wow, some good stuff in there.
Ah yes, well, sometimes illusion is plenty enough. ;) I am willing to take her at her word concerning her assessment of her talents. I would be happy to give her some lessons. Any old time. :mandosmiley:
Who cares if Milla plays mandolin or not, she looks better with that ol' Flatiron than Bigmon does with his Loar.
Dave H
I believe that Ricky Scaggs plays mandolin.

...here's Joey Bishop playing a mandolin. :mandosmiley:
Bernie Williams. Very good ballplayer. Not a Hall of Famer.
Tom Hanks owns a Gilchrist
Adrian Edmundson http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrian_Edmondson plays mandolin

What's the name of this thread? The Women With Mandolins thread is already in progress and she is there, plenty, where poses belong. Believe me, her name pops up plenty, as a quick search will show. And that picture of Bill hugging his mandolin is a classic. But yes, thankfully, no nudity. Just my taste, though. To each his or her own.
Yes, indeed, and it was actually your post I mentioned. But no one seems to be picking up on the hints re: posting these kinds of things to that already established and long-running thread on this very same subject. Oh well ...
He usually plays guitar, but I'm fairly sure that Jeff Daniels plays mandolin as well.
His first CD, all instrumental, came out while he was still an active player, guessing 7 or 8 years ago (it's somewhere in the stack that I'm not about to dig thru). He was known for keeping the Bronx Bombers' travel quite a bit more interesting!
Okay, back to the discussion of Milla...
Does Christopher Guest count as a celebrity? I know he's got a Collings MT2 (excellent choice, if I do say so myself :)) and has a fair idea what to do with it.
