Old Ebenezer Scrooge format?
I've has this tune (old ebe scrooge) stuck in my head, and when that happens it comes out my fingers. So I've been playing it a bunch, and was wondering is it just aabb format? Most people who I've seen play it play a lower octave solo that starts with a double stop, and I'm wondering is that a separate part of the tune, or just a variation?
Hope I made that question clear enough.
Help appreciated
Thanks

I have often wondered about this. For myself I have decided that it is a significant variation on the melody. But as you are likely to have thought it can be named a four part fiddle tune …… Let's see what the congregation thinks. R/

Awesome to once again listen to the Master of Bluegrass take, from 1980, when Uncle Bill was nearing 70 years of age. He plays it four times through with power and finesse - no hand-off to any other soloist, no stopping. The Loar was rocking.

The lovely and talented Lou Martin noted out a very faithful reading of Bill's playing on this tune, in an old Acoustic Musician. The up-front preamble is fun to read.

If you want to learn to play it just like Bill, get Chris Henry's video lesson for $20 or so. Here's his preview vid:
