One is, indeed, #75316, the other one is #75318.
75318 I believe.
Oh wow! Ok so this one? Incredible!

So, what's incredible? That he owns one Loar? Two Loars? Many pickers own Loars. Or do you mean that the particular mandolin he is playing here is incredible? Or that his playing is incredible?
Lots of info on this subject in the interview we did with Chris in 2012: Chris Thile in London Interview.
Picture below: the photo that came with the mandolin when Chris bought it that had no name attached to it, known to have been from the El Dorado, KS mandolin orchestra, and the photo I found of him in the 1925 El Dorado high school yearbook while researching who the owner might be while in town there to do a gig. Original owner was Virgil Bisagno. president of the Library Club his senior year, Treasure of the French Club his junior year, just in case you were wondering what kind of Renaissance man he might have been. I retroactively edited that interview to include information about him. I met Chris briefly in New York City at Tompkins Square Park that summer when he was practicing his Bach repertoire outdoors to about 75 people and showed him the photo. He was unaware the original owner's name had ever been identified.
I still intend to go research who some of the other people in the photo of the orchestra were, particularly Fisher, who was the leader. There are at least two other Loars in the orchestra photo. One of them was located a couple of years after this article was published. I had a chance to buy it for a song but didn't. Interesting history, story, topic.

I think Chris would sound just as gnarly with a Kentucky or the like but I'll trade him my stuff for one of his Feb 18th's!Yeah man no problem on my end!
"Incredible" - Adjective: Impossible to believe. Synonyms: Unbelievable, beyond belief.
Adjective: Difficult to believe. Synonyms: Magnificent, marvelous, spectacular, remarkable.
Incredible = Chris Thile
Ten years ago I asked Danny Roberts from the Grascals what he thought of Chris Thile, Danny said, "He's from another planet!"
So who owns the filling in the Thile sandwich? ;)

Are you Loar shopping, Dem?
I'll say this about Loar sounds. When I had a brief minute to strum one (Steve Martins) I sounded just like me. I fully get that these well made instruments have huge potential but, unless you have the skill.... well, there it is. It's like handing Ansel Adams land camera to a an Instagram Influencer and waiting to see what they get. LOL. I take much better photos than I play.
I'm glad he's the caretaker of two of these. I know he gets it and will pass them along when the time comes.

I dunno about you but I sounded just like Bill Monroe on the Loars I've played. YMMV.....:mandosmiley::grin:
Byron Berline's was my favorite.
As good as Thiele is, he’s equally as good at putting a stellar group of musicians together. His Live From Here groups are truly mind boggling in their ability to morph from one genre to another, often in the same song.

Just my opinion, but I liked his tone best back when he was playing his Dudenbostel. That was a sweet instrument.
Yes, there are many victims who "hear with their eyes." Just my opinion. Wonder who has that Dudenbostel now?
I used to own this particular mandolin... I bought it from Mitch Simpson and then sold it. It was a great mandolin to be sure, but I've played and owned other Feb 18s that I liked better.
My favorite Loar F5 of all time was a July 9th top-bound that Carter's sold to a fellow in England a few years ago. Tone, volume, balance, response... that one has it all. Used to belong to the guy that runs "Nimblefingers" up in BC Canada.
