So really, her birthday was yesterday, so she is older than I thought. :)
Maybelle also played mandolin and banjo.
Her influence on country music was enormous.
Note her rock-steady sense of time.
It has been said by people in the know that her daughter Helen inherited all of her mother's ability. She is also gone now.
I sometimes wish that women of the Addington blood-line [Maybelle's maiden name] had lived a bit longer.
Carter style is named for her innovative playing. Never saw her play before. Different from what I would have thought.
She also fingerpicked in what later was called "Travis style," played slide guitar, and used a flat pick from time to time.
I just checked CarterFold schedule last nite to see who was going to be there sat evening, thinking of driving over.
