Sound hole for first mandolin?

First, thanks in advance for any and all advice.
I'm looking to buy my first mandolin, but have virtually no experience with any stringed instruments. I would like to buy a new or used a-style mandolin, around $300, keeping the total with accessories under $400.
I found the elderly instruments Kentucky KM-150 starter deal ( https://www.elderly.com/specials/eld...lin-outfit.htm
), and actually put it into my shopping cart before checking the classifieds one more time. This ad looks interesting, but I am struggling to compare it with the Kentucky package: https://www.mandolincafe.com/ads/118255#118255 .
Any thoughts?

Great deals are to be found on used Instruments in your price range in the Cafe classifieds that will get you much more for your money than a new KM-150. Many options but one that comes up on a regular basis is an Eastman 305.
For a new player I think it makes little difference if you purchase an oval or f hole model. The differences are subtle and while easily noticed by a seasoned player will take some time for a new player to recognize. If you continue to develop your skill, MAS will set in by the time you do recognize the difference and you can decide at that point which you prefer. If you are like many people you will want both.

Hmm. Interesting. You can get the Tuner and a set of strings plus the book on your own for about 30 bucks. I have never found the need for a string winder. Though I now use polishing cloths, I used to use scraps from an old flannel bed sheet. Plus you would have a case instead of a gig bag. I purchase from Elderly from time to time. A lot of people are going to mention the set up. I personally wasn't impressed with the setup I got from Elderly on a Breedlove Legacy OF. They did compensate me with 40 bucks for my trouble. What they missed, I did myself.
If that Michael Kelley is all solid wood, and I was just starting I'd do it.
