Re: Forgive me....for I have sinned.....
I have multiple open back banjos with which to make fiddle tune clawhammer noises. I am not even sorry about it. I tell myself it is ok as long as I don't up-pick. If God wanted us to play 3 finger style, He would have put our nails on the other side of our fingers.
Re: Forgive me....for I have sinned.....
I just purchased my second tenor, a 17 fret Gold Tone. both are tuned DGBE so functionally they are not banjos but plus size baritone banjoleles.
Whether THAT is sinful is another question but Eddy Davis is my master. :-)
Re: Forgive me....for I have sinned.....
I once thought about trying to learn to play banjo, because at the jam I sometimes attend, the banjo player is SUPERB an I love to watch her play. But then I came back to my senses, and I will just keep trying to improve on the mandolin. Banjo done well can sound great, banjo done poorly is truly bad. But I like the idea to have one around to play "Deliverance" on to scare away rowdy neighbor kids...….
Re: Forgive me....for I have sinned.....
I scared my son straight by threatening to wait to pick him up from middle school by sitting on my car's hood and playing banjo. Never really had another issue with his behavior after the threat.

Re: Forgive me....for I have sinned.....
I'm wondering if this would be a sin or more of a transgression?
