New music from Mike Marshall/Darol Anger
I guess this is the right place since it has newgrass in the forum label, maybe not. No claims this is bluegrass before somebody has a fit! :))
Mike Marshall and Darol Anger just put out a new record called The Duo: Da Capo
(no I don't think that means Mike was using a capo on his mandolin)
All duet stuff, very well done. I read that Mike used his 4th gen Northfield on this.
Enjoy!

Re: New music from Mike Marshall/Darol Anger
Darol and Mike played an incredible show last night at the Music Emporium in Lexington, MA. It was wonderful to watch them range through styles from bluegrass to choro to their own compositions, improvising and springboarding off of each other's playing. I'm listening to the CD right now and highly recommend it!

Hoping to catch them at Freshgrass tomorrow! The Duo, Chiaroscuro, Woodshop, some of my favorite recordings by those two maniacs! Darol has been playing Octave alot an Mike needs no introduction around these parts.

For the curious, “da capo” is a musical term which in Italian translates to “from the beginning”.
Re: New music from Mike Marshall/Darol Anger
Caught the Fresh grass show, hard to slow these two down! Mike was playing a Northfield F5, I didn't get a chance to ask him about it, but it sounded great, (I wonder if that has anything to do with the performer? ducking). Mike played his Monteleon Mandocello, which has seen some stress over the years. They opened up with "Dolphins" from Chiaroscuro with Mike on Guitar, they also did "Piacenza" also from Chiaroscuro, and "Borealis" from Woodshop and a couple of Choro pieces, not to mention a last minute jam on Angelina the Baker as an encore.
They both jammed with Vassen later (it was intense) , and Darol did a whole Creedence Clearwater Revival thing with Allison Brown. The weather could not be beat for this year's Fresh Grass, just a perfect Autumn day.
