Sawchyn Mandola: Jeannie o Bethelnie
Lovin my Sawchyn Beavertail Mandola!
Learned this song (Child Ballad 238) long ago from Dick excellent 1978 recording and recently translated it to mandola. Not my best vocal but I just had shoulder surgery and won’t be playing anything but harmonica for awhile, and it’s Sawchyn Week.

Speaking of which, I added a harmonica track.

Thank you for that! Very nice performance.
I have always wanted to try a Sawchyn.

Me too. This Sawchyn sounds great.

Thanks for the kind words!
To complete the missing surname from the original post, my source was Dick Gaughan, 1978 album “Gaughan”.
Four weeks past shoulder operation, I’ve started playing the mandola a bit, and trying to play harmonica at the same time. Challenging. But if Andy Irvine can do it….then Andy Irvine can do it.
