Very sad - Topanga Banjo Fiddle site burned down in the fires
Didn't see this posted anywhere but the Paramount Ranch western town was destroyed in the Woolsey fire. Hopefully they will be able to rebuild at least some of the buildings used as stages prior to the summer. I imagine the western town facade set buildings will only get rebuilt if Westworld or someone else wants to shoot there again.

Re: Very sad - Topanga Banjo Fiddle site burned down in the fires
This was just sent out by the Topanga folks:
"As you may have heard, Old Town in Paramount Ranch was severely damaged. The Topanga Banjo*Fiddle Contest and Folk Festival has used this venue for the last 24 years and it was an ideal location and a perfect setting for our event. We are now trying to determine the best course of action for future festivals. We will be in discussion with the National Park Service to see what options they may suggest. We’ll be in touch soon to let everyone know what direction the festival will be taking in the near future but rest assured, The Topanga Banjo*Fiddle Contest and Folk Festival is here to stay."

Thank you for the news, sorry to hear about the whole pile of losses! Prayers offered up for rain!

The Western Town was destroyed, but the festival will be held at Paramount at the usual time (May 19).

The main stage area was not affected by the fire at all, nor was the Railroad Stage. Actually, the meadow is much greener than usual (it isn't watered, so by May it is normally brown). We moved the dance barn to the Eucalyptus Grove and have a replacement stage near the creek (Shady Grove Stage) for the Pavilion Stage. The burn area is fenced off, there is still debris (and lots of rusty nails). There will be less shade than usual (no Western town buildings), so bring a canopy. However, the forecast is for a cool overcast day, so needed refuge from the sun is less an issue than other years.
