Lower Intermediate Grade Solo Mandolin Sheet Music
I just wanted to present some nice solo mandolin music for those who haven't reached the level, where they could play the Calace Gavotta or similar solo pieces yet, but who want to make sound their mandolin like a full-fledged solo instrument non the less.
In all these pieces, the mandolin is treated a bit like a classical guitar, no tremolo but lots of chords, so a little wider fingerboard does not harm.
The first sheet music book I want to present is Meine ersten Solostücke by Inge Kälberer. http://www.ingekaelberer.de/
She died in 2012, but her son Oliver continues to compose for the mandolin.

Meine ersten Solostücke(My first solo pieces) is a collection of seven solo pieces for the mandolin which are rather easy to play.

Here's the Wiegenlied(Lullaby)

The second author is Marlo Strauss. He has composed a variety of mandolin books, among them the Aphorismen. These pieces are technicaly a little more demanding.https://www.trekel.de/Aphorismen-Man...lo-716290.html
I chose Danza:

My current favorite is Musik aus dem Stadtrucksack by Annette Schneider.
http://adamandoline.de/ She works as a mandolin-and guitar-teacher at the Robert-Schumann-Konservatorium in Zwickau (Germany).
This collection contains 6 pieces which allude to genres like Rock or Blues but are technically rooted in classical mandolin playing.

I chose the Bus-Blues

All the sheet music books I presented are available from Trekel except the one by Annette Schneider. I don't know whether this is a temporary whole in the Trekel catalogue or if this book is out of print. It is available from other stores...

If anyone could recommend similar not too difficult solo mandolin pieces, I'd be grateful!
Re: Lower Intermediate Grade Solo Mandolin Sheet Music
Thanks for those, I am still ploughing through Alison Stephens books -I'm onto the Adventures now. I am also making the odd harmony part or arrangement of folk tunes of my own, still early days with this though.

Thanks
Ordered one from Trekel.
Not too much trouble for one that can only order beer in German.

Thanks for reminding me of the Alison Stephens e-books, Jeremy!
I had downloaded the Episodes and the Excursions. The Episodes worked quite well, but the Excursions seemed a little hard at the time. Maybe I should try them again.
From the Episodes, I chose A Day Out to record it:

There's another e-book with pieces in that vein: Reflections by Barbara Pommerenke-Steel.:

Here's Little River, a nice sounding study for the Glide Stroke.

I just had a look: there is a video for a tune from 6 Excursions: Michael Reichenbach playing Have a Habanera

Maybe, I should give this a try...
Re: Lower Intermediate Grade Solo Mandolin Sheet Music
I did work Have a Haberera up -took a while and I am not sure how I would do now
I really should record these, if only to remind myself.

Man there's some nice videos in this thread, really sells the little instrument as a musical powerhorse!
