Re: Stiver mandolin registry
Be great to have this - does it exist? I have #353 - an F finished in June, 2015. Bought it April, 2018 from Elderly - it was on consignment. Lou Stiver told me via email that it was originally ordered by Elderly. Flat fretboard, 1 1/16 pearl nut. It was a little tight when I took delivery. Swapped out the J74s with 75s, raised the action a bit, and have been playing it hard every day - it's opened up beautifully. Plenty of bark and belly, and a lovely, balanced tone up and down the neck. Love this mandolin.
Re: Stiver mandolin registry
I have #358. Beautiful one piece back and radiused fret board. Has opened up wonderfully. Life time keeper! 75’s all the way.
Re: Stiver mandolin registry
I have #193 made in 1990 and it's a pure delight. I just sold #339 from 2013 with a tight grain adi top that is incredible

Google says 'no'. The OP has not posted since January 2019, and he never posted about the registry again anywhere else on the Cafe. Too bad, but maybe someone else will take up the mantle?
Re: Stiver mandolin registry
I have #23 (actually 9-78-023) that I ordered directly from Lou Stiver back in 1978. A few years ago I sent it to Lou to have the fretboard extension scooped and the fretboard radiused. It has the typical tight fiddle-back figured maple back that Lou is known for. The mandolin sounds and plays great as expected for a Stiver.

I'm not sure as to how or what is involved with maintaining a registry. As a soon to be new owner of a Stiver Mandolin ordered directly from Mr. Stiver, I may have interest in following up with this project. If someone that could lend some guidance would care to PRIVATE MESSAGE me I will see if this is something I can do.
I have met Mr. Stiver several times as he has performed luthier work on my Collings and my Coleman. His mandolins are deserving of a registry and if maintaining a registry does not exceed my available time and resources, I'm offering my services.
