It certainly sounds like something Norman Blake would write, but it may be one of Steve's tunes influenced by Norman.

If you're home alone in such a quiet environment, an oval hole is all you really need. And who makes a better oval hole mandolin than Steven Gilchrist?. It is a really nice interview. :) Thanks again.

As well as the download tool used by Mark,you can also use 'Keepvid' . Copy the URL into the box,click on download & it will give you the option of 2 download qualities. I downloaded it in 'High quality' in 10 minutes,

Wow, I really enjoyed that video. What a genuine and down-to-Earth guy Steve Gilchrist seems to be. I've only seen one Gil in person and that was when The Fauxgrass Quartet played here locally. I commented to Jason Wheeler how great his mandolin sounded all the way up the neck. He showed it to me and asked if I wanted to play it, but being new to mandolin and pretty bad, (and knowing how much it was worth) I was too terrified to even touch it. I kick myself now.
Anyway, Thanks for posting the video. Awesome stuff!
Well phooey. All the wonder and joy at the sound of my mandolins has been dampened. I am left with an empty, envious, feeling.

Such a great mandolin maker and down-to-earth man(nice legs!)
I was fortunate enough to own two Gilchrist mandos(F-5 styles);but,in my travels up and down the ladder of success
found myself unable to afford to keep them. Such is life.
Got to play Compton's oval-holer;great mandolin! In fact,of the 6 or so Gils that I have played,have to say they all had
their own great qualities. The worst one I played was just wonderful.
