Massachusetts mandolin tasting meet
Hey everyone!
Here's our first Massachusetts
mandolin tasting meet video series..
You will get to see and hear some
wonderful handmade mandolins.
Dude, Gil, Brentrup, Duff, Stanley, Collings, Pheonix, and a Brunkalla...
This wasn't taken with any hi-def gear
Just an I-Phone. The video is split into
two segments and for some reason part
1 plays after part 2, so be sure to watch the whole
thing through to see the introduction and description of each
Mandolin. There is also a part three that wouldn't fit, but I will
Post that separately. It features each mandolin being played by
Ken Reback displaying a bluegrass style chop rhythm.
Also there will be some photos attached.
Enjoy!
Below is a list of the make and models in order played. Feel free to leave comments.
1-Kentucky F-5
2-Collings MF5
3-Pheonix Standard
4-Stanley V-5c
5-Gilchrist Model 5
6-Dudenbostel F5
7-Collings Mt2
8-Duff F5
9-Brentrup Stealth
10-Brunkalla F5
Thanks,
MMTM

Re: Massachusetts mandolin tasting meet
I really enjoyed your two videos and enjoyed listening to all these mandos. Let me know if you want to add a weber Yellowstone or rattlif country boy at your next tasting im only in Worcester

An informative, scientific approach. Bravo!
(But seriously, this behavior should be promoted and amplified)
Re: Massachusetts mandolin tasting meet
Nice. Did you record any comparisons of a less percussive passage being played? With this sample, it's almost impossible to tell differences in sustain between the instruments, and a couple of them should sound vastly different than the rest of the mix in that regard.
