I like Florida mandolins the best.
Yummy!
Leaves out the people who know it's a kitchen utensil used to slice vegetables.
Since I was the chart's creator (posted on the JazzMando Facebook Page for those of you who don't care to be "herded"), I'll give you a better resolution picture.

Sorry for leaving other styles out. And kitchen utensils.
Sorry for not crediting, Ted, I saw it on a friend's facebook page...didn't know the original source.
Even though I live in California I still think Indian River mandolins are the best!
I thought it WAS a kitchen utensil?!?!? I'm still trying to figure out how to slice a potato with mine. I usually end up getting frustrated and play tunes instead. ;)
No, it WAS an obelisk found on a lunar excavation...but it IS what it is (a small guitar-like thingy, of course, as everyone knows -- especially Ted who no doubt would have indicated such in his pie-chart graph had he intended for a true representation rather than frivolous humor...because the mandolin is funny that way)
AHA! You've been herded!
BTW, not surprised it came from Ted's site. The high percentage reported of people who think it is a jazz instrument is a giveaway. ;)
Oh, and if this were a survey conducted in France, there would be enough kitchen utensil responses to show up, and probably appear as a good-sized slice of the pie.
Mmm, Pie
Of course, it depends on whether you do this survey with just the word "mandolin" or by showing photo of an actual mandolin and asking, "What is this?" This survey obviously just used the word because I don't see the options: "small guitar" or "banjo."
My favorite question: " Where did you get that cute ukulele".........then I tell them that it is a growth stunted guitar that wanted to be a D28 when it grew up......
