It's a shame there aren't clear pictures of the headstock, any chance of getting one?
Actually what I'd like to see is the "heel button" (on the back of the body). Here is an oval Strad-O-Lin. Look inside. Any similarities?
I have no way to see it, unless I purchase it. The pickgaurd looks right, has a raised fretboard and the headstock has a shape like 40's 50's strads.
But...is it?
What sort of odds do you lay on it being one?
With some luck, might be able to add more information on this instrument next week. Just received the shipping alert from GC. Price was too good to pass up. Especially if it's playable as-is.
I've seen pictures of oval hole strads that seem to show two kinds, perhaps one being later. It looks like one of them to me, the later version I think. (I used to own the other kind.)
The one on the Guitar Center site with the same label is a Strad-O-Lin genre mandolin and I'm happy somebody from here got it.
Well, it's a bit early to start speculating, but what should I be looking for to confirm it's a Strad? Have seen the photos here so know to look for a clamp impression on the neck block inside, and possibly just one short lateral brace below the sound hole. Anything else?
Getting a bit excited as it will be my first Strad-o-Lin. Came close earlier this year, but snoozed and lost out.
Going to do another post - but just wanted to say that it's probably a Stradolin. But with a couple unusual features.

Possibly. Mine measures out to being 10" wide. The same as my Gibson A Jr.Quote:

Another thing that just struck me. While mine has an elevated fingerboard, it does not have the extension under it that many others have. Makes me think the neck was made with less wood than some of the others. It also puts the fingerboard closer to the body, which explains why I had to do so much sanding to get the replacement bridge to fit.
