Re: Jeff Austin Health Fund
That's a bummer, take it from someone that has had major health problems! All no fun. Lets hope he gets whatever help he needs.

Re: Jeff Austin Health Fund
Rest in peace. That's incredibly sad.
Re: Jeff Austin Health Fund
Rip to Jeff Austin. Hopefully he has found peace. I can say that Jeff and Yonder were an influence on my becoming a mandolin player. I also met my future wife at a Yonder show.
Re: Jeff Austin Health Fund
He has 3 young kids, which is more heartbreaking than my personal sadness at losing a musician who gave me joy.
Enjoyed the heck of his solo band's show last year at Blue Ox and the brilliant cover of Boogie by Hartford.
Re: Jeff Austin Health Fund
My kids and I really enjoy Yonder. Crazy sad news.
Re: Jeff Austin Health Fund
Saw him and band up close at BlueOx in WI a little over a week ago. So much joy at his shows ... so sad. Thoughts to his family and the guys in the band .. Julian Davis (guitar) was with him for just 6 months and was having a blast (as he told me).

I believe Jeff influenced many of us. His energy was contagious and the Yonder catalog got me looking at the traditional stuff more closely. While my wife and I didn't meet at a Yonder show, we went to a bunch early in our relationship. As s father, I certainly feel deeply for his children!
Re: Jeff Austin Health Fund
So very sad for a family to lose a father so young. He was only 4 years older than me. Rest in Peace Jeff
Re: Jeff Austin Health Fund
So sorry to hear this. Bummed. So young and talented.
Re: Jeff Austin Health Fund
Was really looking forward to seeing him at Grey Fox next month. He really was one of the best front men out there.
Re: Jeff Austin Health Fund
It's always sad when a formidable talent dies so young... and yet it happens all the time.
It really makes me appreciate the fact that now, at 65 years old, I am playing mandolin with greater passion and fluidity than at any previous time in my life. No doubt spending a lot of time teaching has helped me achieve that.
So play all you can and allow yourself to get that special mandolin you've always dreamed of... don't put it off! You never know when your time will be up.
Play on friends, play on...
Re: Jeff Austin Health Fund
Just saw this at CNN web site and came here.
Re: Jeff Austin Health Fund
Very unfortunate & sad, he will be missed.
Re: Jeff Austin Family Fund
As someone noted, the name of the fund has been changed to Jeff Austin Family Fund. I changed the opening post and this one as it seems the right thing to do.
Re: Jeff Austin Family Fund
Very sad to hear about Jeff. He was a true pioneer for Jamgrass and brought a whole new group of people into the acoustic music scene. As a performer, he put everything he had into each show and created a unique connection with the audience. He really pushed the boundaries bringing jam band music such as the Dead into the bluegrass scene. He will certainly be missed.

Well said. Words to live by.
Thanks,
