Breedlove american FO thoughts
I am looking at a used Breedlove American series FO It is in beautiful shape- no nicks, etc. I am an intermediate player now using an Eastman LA315 and would like to move up to something in the $1,000-$1,500 range. I think I’m liking the Breedlove, but am having trouble figuring out if the asking price ($1,000) is a reasonable one for this instrument. Any thoughts?

If it sounds like $1k to you, it’s a fair deal.
Re: Breedlove american FO thoughts
Breedlove's US production was all over the place over the 20 plus years they made them. They changed models and features frequently. With that said, $1K for a US made Breedlove isn't high at all compared to what I see from time to time in the classifieds here and on Reverb. I have an early US made Breedlove Olympic (OO type in their nomenclature) that I've considered selling a few times, so I usually pay attention when I see them for sale.

Thanks for the helpful information. I’ve played it a bit more and like it. It stays.
Re: Breedlove american FO thoughts
I used to own one. I sold it and I still regret it. Really nice instrument. When they stopped making them they were going for 1700 new, so I’d say 1000 sounds reasonable for excellent condition.

Thanks. I’m gkad I kept it.
Re: Breedlove american FO thoughts
I’ve been watching Eric Skye vids on YouTube after the latest FB Journal article. He plays in a trio with bass and mando, and the mandolin player looks to be playing a Breedlove FF holed K shaped mandolin. It sounds very, very good in that setting...congrats on getting your “step up” mandolin. Mine (a Silverangel Econo) kept me happy for about 8 years before MAS reared it’s head again, and I wish I still had it, but we down sized last summer, and so several instruments had to go...

I'm confused. Did you buy the used Breedlove, or did you keep the Eastman?

Yeah, that was my question. His first post was considering buying it, and the second, less than three hours later, had him deciding not to sell it. Wut?
Re: Breedlove american FO thoughts
The only mandolin player I can find playing with Eric Skye is Tim Connell and he plays an Arrow mandolin. Do you have a link to anyone playing a Breedlove with Skye?
