Arkansas Traveller with Lyrics
Hi folks,
I would like to hear a version of Arkansas Traveller with sung lyrics. Not the "Hey Farmer" version, but the "Once Upon a Time in Arkansas" version. I have spent more time than I like to admit looking for this online. I know how to play the basic song (thanks to Mandolessons) but want to be able to sing it. I can't figure out which, if any, of the lyrics go along with the B part. My brother and I went on a cross country road trip last year that included crossing the entire state of Arkansas, so I want to learn to sing the song for my brother as part of a commemoration of the trip.
Thanks!
Sue
Re: Arkansas Traveller with Lyrics
Here is a clear to understand recording. Unlike the fiddle where each part is played twice (AA-BB) the singer is only playing each part once. So the first lyrics are the A part and the second lyrics are the B part and so on. You can see the different chord changes for each part as she is playing and singing the song.

That's awesome, Charley! Just what I was looking for!
Thanks a million :mandosmiley:

I'll add my thanks, Charley. I like that song, but then again I am an Arkansan :). Sometimes I think I could be the old man!

I found this, a few options...

Also - nothing to do with your original request :) - Ricky Scaggs did a tune called Sis Draper to the tune of Ark Trav...written by Guy Clark and Shawn Kemp I believe.

David Grisman and Jerry Garcia did a great version of this on the CD ' Not For KIds Only '

I don't think this is what you are looking for but this cartoon from my childhood uses the same song.

Ha ha, I remember that cartoon. Also that song. Those were the first lyrics I thought of when I started thinking about lyrics.

I have that CD somewhere, will have to dig it out. I think that is the "Hey Farmer" version, is it not? I won't attest to that with my "know it all voice" (as my son calls it) though. :))
