The Mandolins and Beer Podcast
Hey all! Hope y’all had a great weekend!
I’ve got a podcast staring up this Wednesday August 7th. The first guest you may be familiar with......David Benedict! Great guy and great conversation! I’m excited for the podcast! I’ve got quite a few guests lined up for interviews including Scott from the Mandolin Cafe!! Scott has got the RSS feed for the podcast and is being extremely gracious by setting up a way for cafe members to get it!
Future guests coming up are
Tristan Scroggins
Caleb Edwards
Jenni Lyn
Joe K. Walsh
Tommy Norris
Matt Flinner
Jacob Jolliff
Carter Shilts
And, as mentioned above, Scott Tichenor!
The podcasts will be weekly, released on Wednesdays, and much more Mandolin-centric than beer!
I’ve also started a playlist on Spotify so people can check out the songs we talk about during the podcast.
The subscription link is already live on apple podcast app, ITunes, Spotify and Google Play and the playlist is live on Spotify if you search Mandolins and Beer.
Cheers everyone!

Re: The Mandolins and Beer Podcast
Gonna be awesome, looking forward to it!
BTW, I had a great blueberry beer from Sweetwater during my jam last week. Very smooth and easy drinking summer beer.

Re: The Mandolins and Beer Podcast
Nice! As a professional brewer, a hobby mandolinist, and podcast lover, this checks a lot of boxes!

Re: The Mandolins and Beer Podcast
I haven't been doing the podcast thing, but I am definitely signing on for this one. TODAY !

Re: The Mandolins and Beer Podcast
Update: Really enjoyed your first episode, Daniel, the sound quality in particular. Nothing kills an otherwise great podcast faster than uneven levels and bad sound quality. So great job here. I enjoyed your questions and how you moved the interview along as well. I'm hoping you'll have some non-BG players on from time to time for us non-grassers. Great job!

Hey! Thanks so much for listening and the kind words! Who are some guests you’d like to hear from and I’ll look into reaching out to them!

Simon Mayor from the UK/Celtic side would be great, and Caleb Klauder from the old-time world.

Mike Compton would be someone I'd really like to hear on your podcast, too.

Re: The Mandolins and Beer Podcast
Love all of three of these suggestions! Thanks!

Re: The Mandolins and Beer Podcast
Ashley Broder is another one that would be great. She is a fantastic player who doesn't get mentioned nearly enough here.

I already threw in my suggestion for Adrian from Northfield.

Thanks for doing this. Good thing for our community to have. I’ll add Billy Bright to the suggestion box.

Re: The Mandolins and Beer Podcast
For an amazing mandolinist who is quite different than those on your list, why not include Snehasish Mozumder. I believe he is often in the US these days (NYC) and his music is really other-worldly. I have heard him perform live and he is absolutely not to be missed.

Re: The Mandolins and Beer Podcast
I’ve been in contact with Simon! It will be a few weeks before we talk but he’s agreed to do the podcast! Great suggestion.

Re: The Mandolins and Beer Podcast
Really enjoyed podcast #1. Great concept Patrick !
One guest that could be fun is Mark Bryan. Not strictly a mandolinist and not bluegrass but a lot of us fall into that category of splitting mando and guitar in para-pop-folky-rock genre's and that may bring a different perspective. Plus he is local and Hootie&TheBlowfish are getting ready to tour with a release of their new album so he may be in promo mode.
Another cool interview down the road would be to talk with some of the more respected luthiers --Lynn Dudenbostel, David Harvey, Tom Ellis, Gilchrist, Mowry, so many others and just see what stories they have to tell. Also maybe have a Loar show where you talk to as many Loar owners as you can line up about how they got theirs and who worked on it.
Endless possibilities here my friend. You're putting a lot of work into this and it shows. Going to get me a teeshirt , hope to see/hear ya 'round town , and cant wait for the next podcast !
